The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is an All-India Examination conducted by the seven Indian Institutes of Technology and the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, on behalf of the National Coordinating Board – GATE, Department of Education, Ministry of Human Resources Development (MHRD), Government of India.
The following students are eligible to take GATE: Bachelor's degree holders in Engineering / Technology / Architecture (4 years after 10+2/ Post-B.Sc./ Post-Diploma) and those who are in the final year of such programs. Master's degree holders in any branch of Science/Mathematics/Statistics/Computer Applications or equivalent and those who are in the final year of such programs. Candidates in the second or higher year of Four-year integrated master's degree programs (Post-B.Sc.) in Engineering / Technology. Candidates in the fourth or higher year of Five-year integrated master's degree programs or Dual Degree programs in Engineering / Technology. Candidates with qualifications obtained through examinations conducted by professional societies recognized by UPSC/AICTE (e.g. AMIE by iE(i), AMICE(i) by the institute of Civil Engineers (India)-iCE(i)) as equivalent to B.E./B.Tech. There is no age limit criterion defied by the exam conducting authority to appear in GATE
Personal information (name, date of birth, personal mobile number, parents’ name, parents’ mobile number, etc.). Please note that the name of the candidate in the application form must exactly be the same as that in the qualifying degree certificate or the certificate issued by the Head of the Department/Institute in which the candidate is pursuing his/her study. GATE 2018 scorecard will be issued as per the name entered in the application form. Prefix/title such as Mr/Shri/Dr/Mrs/Smt, etc. should NOT be used before name. The fee vary from institute to institute and you can find on their respective websites.
After the declaration of results, the qualified candidates can download their GATE 2018 Scorecards (for the paper which candidates have taken the examination). The GATE 2018 scorecards can be downloaded between 20 March 2018 to 31 May 2018 from the GOAPS portal. In case, a GATE qualified candidate requires the soft copy of his/her GATE Scorecard after 31 May 2018 and till 31 December 2018, should pay a fee of 500 (five hundred only) for obtaining the same. There is no provision for the issue of hard copies of the GATE Scorecards.
The Admit Card for GATE 2018 will be available ONLY on GOAPS website. A candidate has to download his/her Admit Card from this website. The Admit Card would be available for download, tentatively from 5th January 2018. Note that the Admit Cards will NOT be sent to the candidates by post/e-mail.
GATE 2018 results will be announced on the 17th March 2018 and will be available on the GOAPS Website. GATE 2018 score is valid for THREE YEARS from the date of announcement of the results.

These questions are objective in nature and each question will have choice of four answers, out of which the candidate has to mark the correct answer. Each question carries 1 or 2 marks questions in all the sections
There will be no choices available for these types of questions. A Numeric Answer question carries 1 or 2 marks questions in all sections. The answer for these questions is a real number to be entered by using mouse and virtual keypad displayed on the monitor. No negative marking for these questions.
